Charles B. Young
1942-2008
On April 23, 2008 Charlie was taken from us suddenly. He was sixty-five and filled with ideas for the future.
In 1981, Charlie lost his heart to the young people of Crystal Springs School. Some thought he had lost his good business sense as well when he assumed ownership and operation of an ailing program that many believed had seen its best days and should fade quietly away.
As an original incorporator of the Institute for Developmental Disabilities, Inc. and its President and CEO until his timely death, Charlie always looked ahead to the next life-enhancing project to benefit his ‘kids’, while never forgetting or forgoing his original and primary commitment to maintain each individuals’ health, safety and dignity.
Although Charlie’s tenure at IDDI was approaching three decades of service, he saw his work as an adventure that was just beginning.
We at IDDI owe so much to Charlie. We know that without him, IDDI would not exist today. But Charlie knew that without the support of people like you, IDDI would not survive into the future. Therefore, we invite you to be a part of Charlie’s legacy and passion by contributing to this fund, named in his honor. After all, Charlie was always thinking about the future; always thinking about ‘his kids’ and how they would be supported. By contributing to the Charles B. Young Memorial Fund, you will be keeping his dream alive by making sure that IDDI is always there to provide the very best support and services for young people who live with profound mental and physical disabilities.
If you, like Charlie, care about the tomorrow of these inspiring individuals, please consider making a gift today.
Every gift helps and is greatly appreciated. IDDI is a 501© 3 non-profit organization. All contributions are tax deductible.
