The Low Vision/Orientation & Mobility Specialist creates strategies that equip our teachers with the skills needed to modify curriculum for students with visual issues and assist the students in learning to navigate through their environment safely and independently. Establishment of simple route design for travel safety, mobility training, more intensive low vision training, and educational/residential training onfield of vision issues are all part of this department's focus. The central goal is to assist our students with limited visual ability to fully access the educational process and adequately work on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) objectives.
Adults have access to Low Vision services through the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind/Department of Mental Retardation Partnership Project.
