Psychology services are provided twenty-four hours a day, every day of the year. The department assesses an individual's behaviors and completes a functional analysis to determine the purpose of each behavior. Reinforcer surveys are conducted to identify what a resident enjoys and what will be motivating for him/her. When deemed necessary, behavior management programs are designed and implemented by members of the Psychology Department to primarily intensify positive reinforcement schedules. These programs identify both appropriate and challenging behaviors. Crisis intervention on an as-needed basis is also provided for residents.
In addition to masters-level clinicians and behavioral counselors, a consultant psychiatrist and licensed psychologist are available to address specific psychiatric and behavioral concerns.
